Okay, so I dove headfirst into this “red tape sports” thing, and let me tell you, it was a trip!

First off, I saw some videos online about people using red tape – you know, that bright red, super sticky stuff – to mark out courts and fields. Looked kinda fun, plus I was bored. Figured, why not give it a shot?
Preparation is Key (Supposedly)
- Grabbed a roll of red tape (duh!). Got it from the local hardware store.
- Found a relatively flat patch of grass in the park. Figured that’d be my arena.
- Stole my kid’s measuring tape. Shhh, don’t tell.
- Decided to make a badminton court. Seemed simple enough.
The Actual Process (Where Things Got Hilarious)
Okay, so I started measuring. This is where I realized I had NO IDEA how big a badminton court actually is. Quick Google search later, I had some numbers. Started laying down the tape, trying to keep it straight. That was my first mistake. This tape is STICKY. Like, REALLY sticky.
I swear, I spent half an hour just wrestling with the tape. It kept sticking to itself, to the grass, to my shoes… everything but where I wanted it to stick. I ended up looking like I’d lost a fight with a giant roll of adhesive.

Finally, after much cursing and sweating, I had something that vaguely resembled a badminton court. It was crooked, the lines weren’t straight, and there were random clumps of grass stuck to the tape, but hey, it was there.
Playing the Game (The Moment of Truth)
I roped in a friend (mostly because I needed someone to laugh at my terrible court with me). We tried to play badminton. The tape kept coming up, especially when we stepped on it. Also, the grass was uneven, so we kept tripping. It was less badminton and more a clumsy, hilarious dance around a sticky, red rectangle.
After about 20 minutes of this, we gave up. We were both covered in grass stains and bits of red tape. But we were laughing so hard, it was worth it.
The Aftermath (Cleaning Up the Mess)

This was the worst part. Getting the tape up was a nightmare. It left sticky residue everywhere. I spent another half an hour scraping and picking at the grass. Let’s just say, I don’t think the park rangers were thrilled with me.
The Verdict
Was “red tape sports” a success? Not really. Was it hilarious? Absolutely. Would I do it again? Probably not. But hey, I got a good story out of it, and that’s what counts, right?
Lessons Learned:
- Red tape is REALLY sticky. Wear gloves.
- Measure twice, tape once (or maybe just don’t tape at all).
- Badminton is harder than it looks.
- Sometimes, the best part of a project is the ridiculousness of it all.
So yeah, that was my red tape sports adventure. Don’t try this at home… or do, just be prepared for a sticky, grassy, laughter-filled disaster.
