First thing, you gotta sign up. They say you need some grassroots thing. I heard it’s like the starting point, you know? You can’t just jump in and start yelling at the kids. You gotta learn the right way. They got these courses, two weekends they say. That’s a lot of sittin’ and listenin’, but I guess it’s important.

D licence football is about learning. It ain’t about how good you used to be. It’s about teaching them young ones how to play right. How to pass, how to shoot. Shoot, even I know there’s more to it than just kicking the ball.
They say you gotta be a leader. A leader! Me? I don’t know about that. But I guess if you want to teach these kids, you gotta show ’em how it’s done. Show ’em you know your stuff.
What You Learn in D Licence Football
They teach you all sorts of things. How to run a practice, they call it. Keep it fun, keep it movin’. Ain’t nobody got time for standin’ around. And you gotta be on time! One hour warm-up before a game, they said. Can you believe it? One whole hour! Back in my day, we just ran around a bit and started playin’. But I guess times have changed.
And you gotta know when to teach ’em. They call it a “coaching moment”. Like, when they mess up, you gotta show ’em how to do it right. Don’t just yell at ’em, show ’em. That’s what they say, anyway. You gotta know when to teach them how to shoot, what part of the foot to use. My grandson, he uses the laces, he says. That’s the top part, I reckon.

This d licence football, it’s for the little ones, the beginners. U6 to U19, they say. That’s a big range. You gotta be able to handle all kinds of kids. The little bitty ones who can barely walk and the big ones who think they know everything. It ain’t easy, that’s for sure.
The Big Leagues: UEFA
Now, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout somethin’ called UEFA. Sounds fancy. They say it’s even harder than this D license thing. You gotta go to school for a long, long time, over 360 hours! That’s like a whole lifetime of sittin’ in a classroom. And you gotta watch other coaches do their thing. They call it study visits. Then, 140 hours of theory, which I reckon is just talkin’ and 220 hours on the pitch. They say you gotta be a real pro to get one of these UEFA licenses.
They got different levels, too. The A License, they say, is for coachin’ youth teams and second-tier clubs. And then there’s the Pro License, that’s the top dog. You get one of those, and you can coach just about anybody. You gotta understand the rules, and the tactics. That’s the fancy way they talk about how to play the game. It ain’t just about runnin’ fast and kickin’ hard. There’s a whole lot of thinkin’ involved. You can be a coach even if you weren’t good at playin’. I tell you, it’s a lot to take in.

Why D Licence Football Matters
But this d licence football, it’s important. It’s about more than just the game. It’s about teachin’ these kids how to work together, how to be a team. How to win and how to lose, ’cause let’s face it, you ain’t gonna win ’em all. It’s about respect, too. Respect for the game, respect for your teammates, respect for the other team. That’s somethin’ they need to learn young.
So, yeah, this d licence football is a big deal. It ain’t easy, but nothin’ worth doin’ ever is. You gotta put in the time, put in the effort. And maybe, just maybe, you can make a difference in these kids’ lives. Teach ’em somethin’ they’ll remember, even when they’re old like me. And that’s somethin’ special, ain’t it?
I heard them say it takes about 40 to 45 hours to finish the whole course. That’s a lot of hours. But if you want to do it right, you gotta put in the time. There are also state D license, I don’t know much about that. But I guess if you fail, you just have to try again. It ain’t the end of the world.
So, if you are thinkin’ about this d licence football, just remember, it ain’t a walk in the park. It’s hard work. But if you love the game and you love them kids, it might just be worth it. I think I’m gonna go watch my grandson practice now. He’s got a good kick on him, that one. Maybe he will be a pro one day, who knows?
