So, I had to write this essay about entertainment, right? It sounded simple enough when I first got the assignment. I thought, “Okay, entertainment, that’s broad, I watch TV, I listen to music, that should be a piece of cake.” But then I actually sat down to start, and it was like my mind went completely blank. I was staring at the blinking cursor on my screen, and nothing was coming to me.

First thing I did was to hit up the internet. I googled “Entertainment essay examples”, and a ton of stuff came up, but it was all over the place. Some were about the history of entertainment, others were about how entertainment affects society, and then there were those super academic ones that talked about the “intersection of entertainment and culture” or something like that. It was overwhelming, to say the least.
I spent a good few hours just reading through these examples, trying to get some inspiration. I even found a few free essays online, but they weren’t exactly what I was looking for. They were either too specific or too general, and none of them really resonated with me. I was looking for something that would help me structure my own essay, something that could give me a starting point, you know?
After a while, I decided to change my approach. I closed all those tabs and started to brainstorm. I made a list of all the things I find entertaining. It started with the usual stuff like movies, music, and video games, but then I also wrote down things like going to concerts, watching sports, and even just hanging out with friends. I realized that entertainment is so much more than just what you see on a screen.
Then I picked a few items from that list and started to write down why I find them entertaining. For example, I love going to concerts because of the energy of the crowd and the live music experience. It’s so different from just listening to a recording. I also wrote about how video games can be a form of escapism, a way to immerse yourself in a different world and forget about your problems for a while. You know that feeling when you are so into the game and feel like you are the character.
Once I had all these ideas down, I started to organize them into an outline. I decided to start with a surprising fact about entertainment to grab the reader’s attention. Then I wanted to talk about the different forms of entertainment and how they’ve changed over time. I also wanted to mention how entertainment is not just about fun and games, but it also has a big impact on society and culture.

Writing the actual essay was still a bit of a struggle, but having that outline really helped. I wrote it section by section, and it slowly started to come together. I made sure to use simple language and to explain things clearly, like I’m talking to a friend. I also tried to include some personal examples to make it more relatable.
In the end, I think I spent about a week working on this essay, on and off. It was definitely more challenging than I initially thought, but I also learned a lot in the process. I realized that entertainment is such a broad and complex topic, and there are so many different ways to approach it. It’s not just about what we watch or listen to, but also about how it makes us feel, how it connects us with others, and how it shapes our world.
The essay turned out okay, I guess. It wasn’t perfect, but I was pretty happy with it. I think I managed to capture some of the things that make entertainment so important and interesting. And who knows, maybe someone will read it and get inspired to write their own essay about entertainment. That would be pretty cool, right?
