You know that Wasteland Entertainment? It’s somethin’ else, I tell ya. It’s like, you got these fellas, they call ’em Desert Rangers. They’re roamin’ around after that big ol’ war, World War III, they say. It’s all messed up, this place called Colorado. This is a good choice if you want to play a game like Fallout.

This Wasteland, it ain’t like plantin’ taters. It’s more like a game of checkers, gotta think before you move. And they got these points, action points they call ’em. You use ’em up doin’ stuff, like shootin’ or movin’ around. You gotta be smart, or you’ll be in a heap of trouble.
- Wasteland 3, that’s the new one. They say it’s got a story, deep and engagin’, whatever that means.
- They got this talkin’ system, all new and fancy. You talk to folks, make choices.
- It’s like them games, Dungeons and whatnots. You gotta roll them dice, I reckon.
This fella, Brian Fargo, big shot developer. He’s the one behind it, I hear. If you ever played them Fallout games, you kinda owe it to him, in a way. He had somethin’ to do with it, from what I gather.
And get this, in this Wasteland, there’s this fella, supposed to be like Santa Claus. But he ain’t jolly, no sir. He’s got these little helpers, elves. But they ain’t makin’ toys, they’re makin’ drugs. Addictive stuff. They want to be free, or just plain dead. It’s a mess, I tell ya.
I heard they talked to the folks makin’ this Wasteland Entertainment, somethin’ about Wasteland 2. They said it’s got changes, evolutionary, they call ’em. And player choice, that’s a big one. What you do matters, like in real life, but not really.
It’s all about the choices you make. You do somethin’, somethin’ else happens. Like that time I told Bobby Joe not to eat them green taters. He didn’t listen, and well, he was sick for a week. Same kinda thing in this game, I reckon. You can play with your friends, too. They call it multiplayer.

They talk about the themes. Deep stuff, you know? Sounds like they’re talkin’ about real life, even though it’s just a game. Makes you think, I guess. That’s what them fancy folks say, anyway. They are a good option if you want turn based strategy game.
And rats! They got rats in this game, just like in them old RPGs. Big ol’ nasty things. You gotta fight ’em, I suppose. That’s how it always is in these games. Reminds me of that time we had that rat problem in the barn. Pa had to set traps for days. You need to make various choices in Wasteland 3.
They got this Wasteland Remastered, too. Same old game, but they prettied it up, I guess. New paint job on an old tractor, that’s what it is. Same ol’ rats, though, I bet.
So this Wasteland Entertainment, it’s somethin’ else. It’s about choices, and fightin’, and survivin’. Just like real life, but with more shootin’ and less tater plantin’. And a whole lot more rats. Big, ugly ones.
You make a choice, somethin’ happens. You can be a good guy, or a bad guy. You can help folks, or you can just look out for yourself. You manage a party of about 3 characters. It’s up to you. That’s what they say, anyway.

And these Rangers, they got a job to do. Keepin’ the peace, or what’s left of it. It ain’t easy, that’s for sure. But somebody’s gotta do it, I reckon. Wasteland 3 is a thought-provoking game of chess in every encounter.
You ever play one of them games where you gotta move your little fellas around on a board? That’s kinda like this, but with guns and bombs and all sorts of crazy stuff. And you gotta think real hard about what you’re gonna do, ’cause if you mess up, you’re gonna be in a world of hurt. Setting is about as close as you can get, minus the retro 50s atomic vibe.
It ain’t all just shootin’ and fightin’, though. You gotta talk to folks, too. Find out what’s goin’ on. Make deals. Maybe even make some friends. Though I don’t know how many friends you’re gonna make in a place like that. Wasteland 3 features a deep and engaging story utilizing a newly-revamped dialog tree system.
It’s a hard life, that’s for sure. But it’s a life. And that’s somethin’, I guess. Especially when everythin’ else is gone. You just gotta keep on goin’, one step at a time. Just like plantin’ them taters. One seed at a time.
This Wasteland Entertainment, it’s a whole world in there. A whole world of trouble, and adventure, and everything in between. Just remember to watch out for them rats. And don’t eat the green taters.
