Today, I tried to figure out what this Echo Entertainment Group was all about. I had heard the name before, but I wasn’t really sure what they did.

First, I did a quick search online and found out that they used to be called Echo Entertainment but now they go by The Star Entertainment Group. Sounds a bit fancier, right? They’re apparently a big deal in Australia, listed on their stock exchange and everything.
- I learned that they own and operate some big casinos like The Star Sydney, The Star Gold Coast, and Treasury Brisbane. These places must be huge. I also found out they manage the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.
- Then, I stumbled upon some stuff about a TV show or something related to a character named Maya introduced in Hawkeye, but that seemed like a different Echo thing altogether. I wasn’t really interested in that, so I moved on.
- I also found some guide about connecting smart TVs to Alexa. This was kind of random and not what I was looking for, so I skipped that part too.
- There was also mention of an Echo Entertainment, Inc. in Calabasas, but it didn’t seem connected to the Australian casino company.
I dug a little deeper into The Star Sydney. Apparently, it was designed by a couple of architects, one from Sydney and one from America, and it opened back in 1997. It’s probably changed a lot since then.
What’s in it for musicians?
I came across something called OJ, that provides a place to find musicians and start a band. It also mentioned something about blues jams and open mics. That sounds pretty cool, although it seems totally unrelated to the whole casino business.
So, basically, I found out that Echo Entertainment Group, now The Star Entertainment Group, is a big player in the Australian casino scene. They’ve got fancy casinos, manage a convention center, and have some history behind them. It’s a lot to take in, but at least now I have a better idea of what they’re all about.
